Bag Lady

Look at the things you can make with plastic grocery bags and old cotton t-shirts!!!

This is a new hobby for me and I have just started to experiment with patterns, but it has been fun!! If I get good enough I hope to participate in a few Fall Bizarres with a neighbor of mine. :o)

A big thanks to all my friends who have been passing on their bags and old shirts! I seriously appreciate it!

It takes 70+ grocery bags to crochet one large bag

My brown bags were made with Fred Myer shopping bags
(I am presently collecting Target, Wal-mart and Kohls bags)
These little girl purses were made with recycled t-shirt fabric

Hello Kitty

Katie had her big birthday party this afternoon at Michael's Craft Store. The kids decorated canvas bags using stencils and had a great time. :o)

Star Day

Last Thursday, Katie's Kindergarten class celebrated her Star Day. Each student (around their birthday) has a special day where everyone celebrates them.

Al and I joined the class (as did Carson) and as a family we shared pictures and stories of Katie as a baby and toddler.

Katie brought items from home special to her that she shared and then were displayed in the classroom as "Katie's Museum".

The class than sang a special Star Day song in Katie's honor. She then had the option to share a few of her special talents (Katie did a somersault, a back bend and sang a song in a real microphone - my daughter is not shy :o).

Each Star Day student has their body traced on paper by the teacher. Then their classmates take turns asking questions and the answers are placed inside the picture (Questions like: What is your favorite color? What is your favorite ice-cream? etc.).

Carson still has his hung proudly in his room too.

I made cupcakes for the class and her teacher made a special crown for Katie to wear. Katie was so proud and excited. She remembered attending Carson's Star Day two years ago and had been patiently awaiting her turn ever since!

I doubt Carson and Katie will ever forget their Kindergarten Star Days. :o)

5th Annual Girls Beach Weekend

This past weekend my girlfriends and I got together for our 5th annual beach getaway. It is hard to believe Carson was 4 and Katie was only 2 the first time I went away. Time sure flies...

Girls Getaway 2005
Don't we look young??!!!??

Girls Get Away 2010
(Missing from the picture: Shawna and Kyle)

Since our first year we have donned our ceremonial bindi's (don't ask me to explain, it is just an unspoken tradition :o)

And yes... even one of our Twilight boys got into the "Bindi" action...

This year we celebrated Kyle's and Nikki's birthdays!

Saturday afternoon we did some exploring and found a lot of "must haves" in the local Rockaway shops :o)

Unlike last time, no one yelled out "B-I-N-G-O"... but a lot of laughs were had at the local bingo hall!

A lot more pictures were taken. Believe it or not this is just a small sampling. More will be posted on the bunco blog in the next day or two! Thanks for all the laughs girls...
